Institutional Research & Effectiveness
The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness supports the college’s mission and goals by providing data to internal and external stakeholders; collaborating across campus for assessment, accountability, and improvement efforts; and promoting data-informed decision making by:
- Supporting planning, accreditation, and accountability efforts
- Implementing institutional assessment and effectiveness practices
- Producing accurate reports for college, system, state, and federal entities.
Institutional Assessment
The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness endorses the SACSCOC definition
of Assessment as the systematic collection, review (ie, analysis), and use of information
about an activity or unit undertaken for the purpose of making decisions and consistent
judgments, including taking actions, that are designed to enhance operations and activities
of the unit and improve the performance.

Accreditation
Lamar State College Port Arthur is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award degrees at the associate level.
